On Monday, December 18th, 2023, the City of Woodstock held a reception at the Chambers at City Center celebrating the retirement of Assistant City Manager Rob Hogan. Hogan's last day with the city is December 28th. He has worked for the City of Woodstock for over ten years.
At the reception, Chief of Police Robert Jones presented Rob with custom cutting board on behalf of the Woodstock Police Department. Woodstock Parks and Recreation Director Brian Borden gifted Rob a lifetime membership to the Woodstock Senior Center on behalf of Woodstock Parks and Recreation. Mayor Michael Caldwell presented Rob with a plaque to commemorate his years of service to the City of Woodstock and also issued a proclamation stating that a plaza to be constructed in downtown Woodstock will be named in Rob's honor. According to the proclamation, in an effort to strengthen connectivity between downtown Woodstock and Woodstock's trail system, the city will be revitalizing Elm Street and reimagining it as an energetic multimodal plaza featuring a raised pedestrian crossing with a flexible terrace for outdoor dining and gathering. These improvements all aim to connect the core of downtown, the Elm Street green, and the Noonday Creek Trail and the concept for the Elm Street plaza was developed by Assistant City Manager for Public Works Rob Hogan. The Mayor and City Council resolved that the plaza will be named the Robbie Lee Hogan Plaza in dedication of Rob Hogan's long and dedicated service to the citizens of Woodstock. City Manager Jeff Moon and employees of Woodstock Public Works presented Rob with a street sign for Hogan Way.
Upon Rob Hogan's retirement, a restructuring of city administration will take place. Assistant City Manager Coty Thigpen will be promoted to Deputy City Manager. Grants Manager Robyn Adams will be promoted to City Clerk. Special Projects Manager Jamie Palmer will become the Assistant to the City Manager.
"I'm so excited for Rob and his family that he gets to enjoy this well-earned retirement. Our city is so much better off for his service," said Woodstock Mayor Michael Caldwell. "I am also so excited by the opportunity that we have to both promote and empower existing leaders within our city from our current Assistant City Manager Coty Thigpen rising to Deputy City Manager to our brand new City Clerk Robyn Adams and our new Assistant to the City Manager Jamie Palmer who is going to continue to engage in special and key projects within the city. We have an extremely strong team. Although Rob leaves big shoes to fill we have the right players to fill them. We wish Rob well and we are excited for the best days in Woodstock ahead."
