WFD Conducts Smoke Alarm Blitz

“WOODSTOCK FIRE DEPARTMENT CONDUCTS SMOKE ALARM BLITZ IN A RESIDENTIAL AREA THAT SAW A FATAL FIRE LAST DECEMBER”

March 27, 2017 -  On Saturday, March 25, 2017, Woodstock Firefighters visited 58 homes in the Cardinal Woods neighborhood for a Smoke Alarm Blitz; which resulted in nearly 100 smoke alarms being installed.

This community outreach initiative, which took place from 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. “is a proactive approach to ensuring residents have working smoke alarms as well as bring awareness to the importance of properly working smoke alarms” says Fire Sergeant George Williams.  “Some homes did not have any smoke alarms at all and some were greater than ten years old” Sgt. Williams added.

On December 16, Woodstock Fire, with assistance from Cherokee Fire, responded to a house fire in Cardinal Woods neighborhood where a female recently passed away from her injuries sustained in this fire.

Woodstock Fire Department is committed to the safety of the citizens and businesses of Woodstock.  Through a partnership with Woodstock’s Home Depot, Smoke Alarm Blitz events take place within the community multiple times a year.
