City of Woodstock, Georgia received the
GFOA's Distinguished Budget Presentation Award
January 2, 2018 – In late 2017, The Government Finance Officers Association
(GFOA) announced that the City of Woodstock, Georgia has received the GFOA's
Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for its budget.
represents a significant achievement by the City. It reflects the commitment of
its staff to meet the highest principles of governmental budgeting.
In order to
receive the budget award, the City of Woodstock had to satisfy nationally
recognized guidelines for effective budget presentation. These guidelines are
designed to assess how well an entity's budget serves as:
• a policy document
• a financial plan
• an operations guide
• a communications device
documents must be rated "proficient" in all four categories, and the
fourteen mandatory criteria within those categories, to receive the award.
the City’s efforts to achieve this prestigious award was Crystal Welch, Budget
Analyst for the City of Woodstock, who was also presented with a Certificate of
Recognition for Budget Presentation by the GFOA.
over 1,600 participants in the Budget Awards Program. The most recent Budget Award recipients,
along with their corresponding budget documents, are posted quarterly on GFOA’s
website. Award recipients have pioneered
efforts to improve the quality of budgeting and provide an excellent example
for other governments throughout North America.
Government Finance Officers Association is a major professional association

Council meeting held on Monday, December 11, 2017, Mayor Donnie Henriques
