CITY OF WOODSTOCK ANNOUNCES CLOSURES AND CANCELLATIONS DUE TO COVID-19

COVID-19 Update

City of Woodstock is open for business. Offices are temporarily closed to the public to limit exposure to the COVID-19 virus as city staff continues to serve residents and businesses. A number of online options for interacting with your city government are available and under development. Officials are in contact with Georgia Department of Public Health and are consulting the guidelines of other agencies like the CDC in making decisions on cancellations and closures.


“We appreciate the public’s patience,” City Manager Jeff Moon stated. “We’ll do our best to continue to provide timely and accurate information on local events related to the COVID-19 outbreak.”


The March 23 Regular Meeting of Mayor and Council has been cancelled. The April 2 Planning Commission Meeting has been cancelled as well. The public can watch City Council Meetings and Planning Commission Meetings online - live during the event or at your convenience - at wdstk.ga/meetingportal.


The April meeting of Woodstock Downtown Development Authority is cancelled.


Georgia Municipal Association has postponed Georgia Cities Week to October 4-10 so the April 20 Town Hall Meeting and April 25 Touch-a-Truck have been postponed.


Woodstock Fire Department is taking added precautions for the safety of citizens and firefighters. WFD will not be doing any public relations details at this time inside or outside of our stations. No outside visitors are allowed at either Woodstock Fire Station at this time. If you are well and need a blood pressure check, please go to your local pharmacy. Car seat checks are suspended until further notice.


Please call 911 if you are having difficulty breathing or are choking, having an allergic reaction, have symptoms of a heart attack or stroke, are confused, disoriented or dizzy, are having difficulty speaking, walking or seeing, or have sudden severe pain. Woodstock Fire & Rescue asks that you do not call 911 if you want information about COVID-19, need a ride to the doctor’s office, want to get tested, or have mild symptoms.


If you need assistance from Woodstock Police for non-emergency issues, call 678-493-4080. Woodstock Police Department’s March 18th Coffee with a Cop at Chick-fil-a is cancelled. The remainder of the Spring Citizens Public Safety Academy is cancelled. All Police Auxiliary Unit duties are suspended until further notice.


If you need a motor vehicle collision report from an incident that took place in Woodstock city limits you can check buycrash.com. This third-party site provides reports available for download in PDF format for a nominal fee. Call 770-592-6030 Option 7 or email policerecords@woodstockga.gov, if you need additional information to locate your report in their database.


If you have received a citation from Woodstock Police or Georgia State Patrol within city limits for most citations you may avoid a court appearance by paying your fine online at www.woodstockpayments.com. You may also pay by phone at 1-844-263-6701 or by mail to City of Woodstock Municipal Court at 12453 Hwy 92, Woodstock, GA 30188. Online payments and payments by phone must be received by midnight the day before your court date. Payments by mail must be received the Friday prior to your court date.


The following changes were made to the Municipal Court calendar for the months of March and April:

March 23 court session will be rescheduled to May 11

March 30 court session will be rescheduled to May 11

April 6 court session will be closed out and rescheduled to May 18

April 13 and April 20 court sessions are cancelled

April 27 trial session will be decided by the end of March

Citizens in the City of Woodstock may pay their Water & Sewer Utility bills online at wdstk.ga/utilitypayonline or using the drive-thru window at the City Hall Annex (12453 Hwy 92 Woodstock, GA 30188).


Public Works has postponed the March 24th Public Input Meeting on the Neese Road improvement project at The Chambers at City Center. Staff is developing a virtual format and will notify the public via the city website and social media as it is available.


Public Works has acquired industrial sanitizing equipment and has treated public buildings. They will begin treating playground equipment at city parks on a routine basis.


All Parks and Recreation facility rentals for March have been cancelled or postponed. Mountain Goat Adventure’s Rope Mill Spring Thaw 4 and 10 mile Trail Run has been rescheduled for August 1. AMPED in the Park on March 28 is cancelled.


The Parks and Recreation department will begin accepting applications for Community Garden registration on April 1. A link to an online-only registration form will be posted to woodstockparksandrec.com.


William G. Long Senior Center is closed for the next two weeks. Information on reopening will be made available on the city website and social media as soon as possible.


The Woodstock Visitors Center is closed until further notice.


In accordance with CDC recommendations, all IN WDSTK events are cancelled through April. Events affected by this include:

YPOW AM: cancelled through April 30

Mastermind (March 25): to be rescheduled

YPOW PM (March 26): to be rescheduled

Morning INfluence (March 27): cancelled

Morning INfluence (April 24): cancelled

In addition, the following IN WDSTK supported events are being postponed:

Taste of Woodstock (April 23): to be rescheduled

Start of Farm. Fresh. Market (April 25): to be rescheduled

A number of organizations are providing resources for Woodstock citizens in need.

First Baptist Church of Woodstock through its CARE Ministry maintains a food bank that assists families in need. For more information go to www.fbcw.org or call 678-494-2690.

Never Alone Food Pantry serves those in need of food assistance and will only cease service if required to do so. They serve guests at 291 Rope Mill Rd from Monday-Friday from 11 am to 3 pm by appointment only. Call 470-302-4055 to schedule an appointment. Never Alone is taking precautionary measures to ensure their facility is clean and sanitized. They are in urgent need of donations to respond to COVID-19 and its potential impact on our community. For every $1 donated, Never Alone can purchase $8 in food through food source partnerships. Make an online donation at www.neveralone.org.

Cherokee County School District School Nutrition staff will distribute to-go bags of food through drive-through stations set up from 10 a.m. to noon on Monday, March 23, in the parking lot or bus lanes of Woodstock High School and Etowah High School. These bags will contain a week of breakfasts and lunches for a CCSD student. A child must be present in order for a bag to be provided.  To be proactive in “social distancing,” families cannot stay at the site; do not come to a site if you are ill. This emergency service is being funded with monies set aside for CCSD summer meal program; donations are welcome to help offset the cost and can be made by using the form here: bit.ly/CCSDdonate.

Comcast is offering free internet service to low-income families for 60 days to assist with connectivity in light of school and business closures. To sign up, visit www.internetessentials.com.

Georgia Power will temporarily suspend residential disconnections for 30 days beginning March 17 and will reevaluate the policy and timeframe as the situation develops. Cobb EMC has suspended disconnects for 30 days beginning March 15.

At this time, the LifeSouth blood drive on March 27 in The Chambers at City Center parking lot from 10 am to 5 pm will take place as scheduled.
